Based in the location where it all started for founders Katende Godfrey and Kasoma Ibrahim, the Fashion Cypher atelier is situated on Nyabinghi street, in the Kampala suburb: Kazo. This space exists as a dedicated education and training facility, available, free of charge to all students of the Fashion Cyphers, whilst also acting as the site of the seasonal Fashion Cypher Residency programme.

In a world that disregards the legitimacy of Indigenous knowledge and suffocates communal lifestyles, The Fashion Cypher Residency emerges as a disruption to dominant extractive systems and western notions of sustainable fashion. A residency course centred on indigenous fashion, it equips designers, thinkers, and makers with the tools to create critically engaged, community-driven, and culturally contextualised fashion.

The residency is an opportunity for mutual learning and cross-cultural skill exchange. Participants have the chance to interact and work with local students and teachers, guest lecturers, cultural leaders and practitioners and eminent designers and artists from across East Africa.
