DAKAR FASHION DELEGATION

Representing Uganda in the Dakar Fashion Delegation (2024) hosted by Dakar Design Hub, IGC participated in a design residency and showcase. Paired with Senegalese designer Mamadou Diao, Katende Godfrey co-designed an new interpretation of the iconic Senegalese Boubou. The garment - crafted in a matter of days - incorporated design motifs, techniques and materials native to East Africa e.g. Lubugo, into the traditional West African silhouette. It was later shot alongside the Gugumuka collection, on the Dakar coastline.
