Kwetu Kwanza - meaning “ours first” in Swahili - is a festival founded by IGC Fashion showcasing fashion from the margins that centres the planet and people, first. Four days of creativity, circularity and collective resistance. Through design, art, film, performance and more, the event interrogates the ethics, origins and impact of what we wear, whilst challenging narrow definitions of “sustainability”, which continue to perpetuate exclusion and exploitation. Kwetu Kwanza is a vital convergence of Africa’s regenerative fashion community: a dialogue for systemic change and a platform for a re-imagined future rooted in local voices and collective resilience.
